40-50% VP$IP at mid levels
Curiousity question.
Do you think there is any way someone at the 1/2 or 2/4 NL level on stars could be ahead long term with a 40% or 50% VP$IP? And not much limping going on. Nick |

Re: 40-50% VP$IP at mid levels
I dont think at this level, too many horrible players/calling stations etc. At the higher limits though, I've seen players that are much more lag, maybe not 50%, but definitely 30%+ and I think they do well. When you get higher and the quality of play improves (and I'm going to get flamed for this) I think the most profitable style of play is smart lag. People that read hands very well and easily pick up on their opponents style will wreck a table playing like this.

Re: 40-50% VP$IP at mid levels
What means money put voluntarily into the pot? Because i put a 100% of my money voluntarily into the pot. No guns in my house and my girlfriend doesn't know the game so i am allowed to do what i want. Please be a bit more concrete, thanks.

Re: 40-50% VP$IP at mid levels
money you put into the pot from blinds isnt considered voluntary, the game design forces you to do it. money you put in outside of the blinds is voluntary because you want to put the money in, the game rules arent forcing you to.

Re: 40-50% VP$IP at mid levels
There is a player at 1/2 that plays 35% of his hands, raises every hand to $10 regardless of postion or what hand he has, be it 67o or AA and he generally bets $18 on the flop regardless. The players have no idea how to handle his play, and despite variance he seems to always be up and he is a winner in my poker tracker over a decent amount of hands. You may know who I am talking about, I have also seen him playing the 5/10 but he plays much differently there.

Re: 40-50% VP$IP at mid levels
I know a BM player who is loose passive aggressive. He plays the 5/5 and just utterly destroyes the the other loose passive, Loose aggressive type players. He rarely beats the TA, or SLA, SLAP -- mainly because they have very infrequent confrontations with him. Mostly he gets out of their way because they know much how to bet.
But it's amazing to watch somebody rack up $2k like clockwork night after night after night with an occasional lose .. perhaps 1 out of 7. |

Re: 40-50% VP$IP at mid levels
He raises 72o 20XBB UTG and then checks flopped quads on all three streets. Then he apologizes.
