A Hand vs. Clarkmeister
Mirage 20-40. The lineup at the table is as follows: In seat 1 is Andy Fox, then a too tight, too predictible Vegas local type, then JustinA, then Tommy Angelo, then The Dude, then a loose fishy tourist, then Clarkmeister in seat 10. The game has been playing too tightly, and The Dude has been doing most of the raising - and running well.
Preflop: The Dude opens two off the button w/ K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. Clark 3-bets from the button, The Dude calls. Flop: (7.5 SBs) K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] The Dude checks, Clark bets. The Dude raises, Clark calls. Turn: (5.25 BBs) 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] The Dude checks, Clark bets, The Dude raises, Clark calls. River: (9.25 BBs) The Dude's plan is to check-call a river blank, check-fold a [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. |

Re: A Hand vs. Clarkmeister
i really dont like the turn checkraise. i think leading is better. there isnt going to be very many hands that you are ahead of that clark will bet the turn with here, and you may very well give him a free card to his spade draw. i think you were trying to be creative when it was really fps.

Re: A Hand vs. Clarkmeister
What are you hoping he has when you go for the checkraise on the turn? Your play on the turn seems incongruous with check-folding any spade on the river.

Re: A Hand vs. Clarkmeister
I don't wanna sound like a broken record but I don't like the turn c/r either. When i'm out of position against a good player I'll typically call them down with hands like this and save the c/r for big hands and bluffs. I don't consider top pair [censored] kicker on a mono board vs a 3 bettor a big hand.

Re: A Hand vs. Clarkmeister
What hands would Clark have 3-bet you with that you would now be beating with this flop? AQ? Jacks? Tens? Would he keep walking into the checkraise with these holdings?

Everytime I think that I should work more and play poker less . . .
I continue to see and hear of red chip games, online and B&M, with incredibly easy, weak-tight, overrated players. I do love it so . . .

Re: A Hand vs. Clarkmeister
Pre-flop Clark is 3-betting you with a very wide, range of hands. You need to make sure that's in tatooed in your head after the flop.
On the flop, bet and re-raise if you get raised. On the turn bet and call if you get raised. Don't give free cards in a decent size pot when you're heads up against a tricky player who doesn't fold too easily. You'd be pretty unhappy if you gave him a free pass with black 4's. Get some value out of your hand, and don't sweat being behind that much. If you lose, so be it. On the river, check-calling to induce a bluff is fine or so is betting. I don't understand why your check-folding heads up if a spade comes in a 9+BB pot. Check-call and let the cards speak. |

Re: A Hand vs. Clarkmeister
I don't understand the river plan. you aren't going to induce a bluff, and is clark really going to bet worse hands than he will call here?
