Default should I buy this laptop???

** i also posted this in internet forum. i need some quick opinions.

I need a new computer. Both of my computers at home are ancient. My friend is offering me this computer at a very good price to me. Its brand new. This is his business. Anyways, It looks good to me, I dont know much about computers tho. Its a wide screen 15.4. will I be able to multi=table? and will i be able to make it high resolution to play poker? I only trust poker players to answer these questions! thanks again guys, by the way im getting this laptop at almost 50% off retail.

1.4 Ghz is kinda slow, but for 50% off, it's a good deal. I'd buy it for 50%, sell it for 75% and use that $ to buy a 3 Ghz, 1Gb ram, etc laptop

You need UXGA or WUXGA to get 4-tables with no overlap.

is this easily upgradeable? how much? i actually only want to be able to 2-3 table comfortably.

sorry to ask such newbe-ish questions, but is this to slow for simple applications such as poker, burn cd's, etc..?

i don't think you can "upgrade" notebook displays...wait and find a good deal on uxga.

To get more than one table on Party w/ no overlap, you'll need UXGA. This is not upgradable by you, AFAIK.

A Pentium M 1.4ghz equates to roughly a Pentium 4 of double that speed.

Not quite that clean, unfortunately. I did some reasearch when I got my 1.5M, and that was supposed to be roughly equivalent to a 2.4 or so. IIRC, 1.4M was about a 2.2. Pentium M is the shiznit. Extrememly efficient for the speed, and great with power consuption.

See where I said roughly? Which part did you not understand? It's not a rigid translation either, hence the blanket statement. Regardless, mhz doesn't matter on modern computers.
