Default 5/10 NL Shorthanded Play

6 Handed $5/10 NL at UB. Opponents are unknown, with the exception of SB who I know from another site.

UTG folds. I limp in UTG+2 with A7h. CO calls, Button makes it 40, blinds fold, limpers call. I barely have the other stacks covered with $1100. They are roughly within $100 for me.

Flop comes 7d 8h Th. Perfect flop for me. I plan for a checkraise. Checked to button who makes it $100. I pop it to $300. Things start getting interesting here. Limper pops it to $700ish. Button reraises all-in. I push, limper calls.

Guess their hands.

That combination gives me 30% equity, and with all the dead money, I've got to call. Is there any combination you can put people on that would make it wrong to fold on the end?

Jh 9h?
10 10?

I didnt run the numbers, but that seems to me the worst case scenario. Made straight that kills two of your heart outs because of Sflush. Plus a set that can fill up if you hit a safe heart.

Edit: just noticed you had 7h, so the sflush possibility only kills one of your heart outs i guess.

I would guess one has 9j for the made straight and the other has a set, two pair, or an overpair.

I was pretty surprised by their holdings. Button had 9h9c, Limper had 96o. I was really surprised he called twice preflop with this holding. My call was automatic with these holdings, and I sucked out a flush for a nice $3000 pot.

hi Tom,

at the time of your final action you're basically getting something like 24 to 7 or some such number on your call....obviously the only way you're in bad shape equity wise is if one has a set and the other has J9h.....but with no read (and probably even with a read) this is a call....if you put button on AA-88 and the the limper on a set or a straight, your equity makes this an auto-call......
