Hi,
I've been a long time lurker. Started playing last year and learned pretty much everything I know about limit Hold'em on this board. After playing 0.25/0.50 on Stars for a while I moved to Party two months ago and have had reasonable success. However, pretty often I still find myself in situations where I have no idea what I am supposed to do. Here is an example: Reads: SB is a calling station(68/0/0.8) after 50+ hands. CO just sat down, UTG+1 is also new to the table. Party Poker 0.5/1 Hold'em (8 handed) converter Preflop: Hero is BB with A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. CO posts a blind of $0.75. 1 fold, UTG+1 calls, 2 folds, CO (poster) checks, 1 fold, SB completes, Hero raises, UTG+1 calls, CO calls, SB calls. Flop: (8.50 SB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (4 players) SB checks, Hero bets, UTG+1 calls, CO raises, SB calls, Hero 3-bets, UTG+1 calls, CO caps, SB calls, Hero calls, UTG+1 calls. Turn: (12.25 BB) 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (4 players) SB checks, Hero ... How would you play the rest of this hand against two unknowns and a calling station? |

CO might have A9, Q9, QQ, AA, 99. probably not QQ or AA. without a read checking and calling CO's bet is a good plan. I also call one on the river unimproved. if it's two cold to me at any point, then I'm folding.
EDIT: he also might be a lunatic and have some random Ace, and that's why we're calling one on the river. also, if we improve, I'd bet the river and call a raise. |

Bet the turn, call a raise from CO and call him down without improvement. I still like your hand here.

I think the only hand CO could have that he plays this way that we're ahead of is JT.
A9: 6 ways AQ: 6 ways Q9: 9 ways 99: 3 ways JT: 16 ways so it's 24:16 that we're behind, and that's assuming he plays JT this aggressively. am I missing something? (don't worry I don't want to fold) |
