cool, wasnt sure - never really down there on weekdays too much - played in the wednesday morning $40 one and the competition was pretty bad (came in 25th out of 120, busted out with AKs vs TT) - interesting characters indeed, had the standard kid with the hood over his head and the sunglasses on, and another charming young fellow with an unlit cigarette hanging out of his mouth while he was playing....what would these kids do without role models

I was thinking of trying the weekday $40 buy in. Sounds like the competition is pretty bad. Any idea of the payout structure (I didn't see anything on their website) and any advise would be helpfull.

They pay 9 if under 125 entries, 18 if over - the one i played in yesterday morning had 120 entries, 230-ish rebuys/add-ons, paid 9 - first place was about $5600, second was in the $3200 range, dont remember what the rest paid except 9th was $250

Level of play is pretty bad overall, but the structure of the Borg turnaments makes them a real crapshoot. Only $1000 to start and by level 4 blinds are already $100-200 with $25 ante.

Best strategy is to try and double-up early, during the rebuy session when play is very loose, then take the add-on at the break. This should give you enough chips to handle the high blinds/antes during the 2nd hour.

I wish the Borg would offer a few no-rebuy/addon tournaments like the Taj. The Borg's room is much nicer, but I don't like rebuy tournaments, as it effectively triples (or more) the entry fee and gives an advantage to players who are willing to spend more money on rebuys.

agreed, the blind structure is nuts, goes from 300-600-75 to 500-1000-100 to 800-1600-200 in one hour - couple that with the slow dealers for the morning tournies and having to count out each all in, and you've got no chance of seeing 2 orbits per level....push or fold!
