.25-.5 NL on pokerroom.com. Its folded to me in late position with Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. I raise to $1.25 and two people call. Flop comes out Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. Sb checks bb bets $3 into a $3.9 pot. I figure that this is a protective bet, maybe a set of Tens or two pair. I call(?), knowing the bb has a hand and will pay me off. Then the sb calls. Turn is 9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (damn!), checked around. River is 2 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] and sb goes all in for $14.
Should I have pushed on the flop, shutting out the sb and isolating the bb who I know has a hand? Then, when it was checked on the turn, was a nice size bet called for? |

Raise more preflop, and raise on flop. There are two high cards and two of the same suit. Very bad slowplayflop as I see it. If BB is short raise him all in. If SB has a draw or no hand then he will fold and BB will prolly call and you are a big favorite.

No need to smooth call the flop here. You don't want to give a card cause there are many that will scare you. You need to raise IMO unless you are against bluffers that you can count on bluffing at the river with big bets. There is probably no need to be so fancy here - you won't scare too many 25NL players off a hand or a draw with a medium sized raise.
Whats your pokerroom name? Thats my backyard too. |

think ur preflop play was ok. The Postflop was Very bad, I quote "I figure that this is a protective bet," why didnt u reraise him then ?.
u just gave him a free card that could make him Flush/straight or maybe 4T whatever. Every money won is a profit. big profit doesnt come from AA KK QQ & AKs only. and 3Q yeah nice hand but still easy beat by straight or flush. i would rather Fold here than call. |

You also have to keep in mind that by smooth calling BB you are giving SB nicer pot odds to call the original raise. On such a draw heavy board, you want to isolate against the person with the hand and far fewer outs to beat you (unless he is raising with K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img])

Raise more? There's no need to raise more than 5bb with no limpers.
