How would you set blinds??
I host a home game at my house 2 times per week with 7 other people playing. We've played with 10,000 starting chips for almost a year now, we play a tournament style game, and I recently added some chips to my collection so that all of my set is used and everyone gets 20,000 starting chips.
Before the new chips, the blinds were as follows. Levels changing every 15 minutes. This worked out very well and games lasted around 2-2 1/2 hours each and we played 2 per night. 100/200 , 200/400 , 300/600 , 400/800 , 500/100 etc... With 20,000 chips, we tried to make it work for the 3rd time last night, but the game lasted way too long because once it was down to 3-4 players, nobody was really desperate and had plenty of chips to cover the blinds. This is what we used...Again, every 15 minutes 200/400 , 300/600 , 400/800 , 500/1000.... I didn't think this would work too well, and I was right. I am just looking for suggestions on what to change to make it work a lot better. I've thought of maybe something like this.. 200/400 , 400/800 , 600/1200 , 800/1600 , 1000/2000 Any suggestions would be helpful. |

Re: How would you set blinds??
Its not the blinds that are slowing the game down. Its the amount of chips you have in play. Lower the amount of chips everyone has.

Re: How would you set blinds??
The reason I had everyone start with more is because I figured I have over 200,000 in chips in my set and I was only using 80,000, so why not use them. If it doesn't seem like anything with the blinds is going to help, I will just have to go back to the old format. Thanks for the input.

Re: How would you set blinds??
If you really want to use all your chips and double the starting stack, you're going to have to double all the blind levels, not just start at a higher level. Whatever floats your boat, really.
