What type of chips are mostly used in Las Vegas casinos (and others)?
Do you mainly use clay (Paulson, Bud Jones), Ceramic (Chipco), or something else? |

As a guess they are 90% paulson, 10% chipco.
I played at the orleans, sahara, pamls and plaza. Only palms was chipco. I think chipco might be gaining some ground tho because of the graphics. The indian casino in my town that just opened poker has chipcos. |

The Taj chips look like they are Paulsons, but with a Taj Mahal "house" mold instead of the usual Top Hat & Cane. The thin edge spots for the $1's are typical Paulson, and the design, label, edge spots, and graphics on the $5's also look like Paulson.
But this is from the ChipGuide pictures since I don't have an actual souvenir chip. http://www.callzia.com/dghome/acchip...tm#TAJ%20MAHAL - - tomb New Orleans Birthplace of Poker |

Interestingly, here in Colorado it seems that 70% of the chips are chipco/ceramic and 30% are the paulson/bud jones clay type. Not all the houses have poker, some dont' even have blackjack so they just use metal tokens. That's just a guess... chipguide.com could probably produce some pretty convincing numbers.

![]() ![]() Yeah, in this picture, it does look more like a paulson. However, it appears in that picture that the words "Taj Mahal" and area around "$5" are raised on the chip..as well as the entire center logo... while the one I have all of those things are indented in the chip rather than raised. But everything else looks exactly the same. The one I have has a very rounded edge.. However, the $1 chip has more of a squared edge. It is also heavier (i can feel the difference) than the $5 chip. thats why I figured it could be from a different company.. but that didnt wouldnt make any sense. But I would figure they would use the same style for both denominations. Oh well.. I really like the look and feel of the $5 chip a lot more than the $1. If its a paulson then Im saving up for a set of them. |

Put a blacklight to it and you'll very likely see a THC glowing on the inlay.

It's strange, 5 of the first 6 casinos I played at had Chipco. Only Foxwoods used Paulsons. In Vegas, it seemed everywhere used Paulsons. I didn't see Chipcos anywhere.
