Re: I WILL NOT LAY DOWN AK!!
It looks ugly by the end, because at that point you lose to AQ-A7, as well as 98, 99, 88, and even JT. But it's quite possible I would have done the same thing.
I'm not certain calling down is best, but it is true that as the board keeps looking worse and worse, the pot keeps getting bigger. |

I'm not certain calling down is best, [/ QUOTE ] I agree, but where do you find a different play? A fold? That's what really irks me about this hand. |

Re: I WILL NOT LAY DOWN AK!!
I don't know. Against A8 or even A9, you have too many outs to fold the turn. But you could also just be up against AQ. Or you could be crushed.
But when you get to the river, it's hard not to call one more, even unimproved, and hope your opponent is getting out of line, as is often the case on Party 2/4. I'm not saying it's +EV, necessarily, but I think I would have played the hand the same way, against an unknown. |

RESULTS:
Turns out opponent was WAY out of line and shows down A4o and MHIG |

And this is why we make "hopeless" crying calls at 2/4, getting 8:1+ |

Re: I WILL NOT LAY DOWN AK!!
Could not another AK play this way (other than pre-flop)?

Could not another AK play this way (other than pre-flop)? [/ QUOTE ] Yes, I think another AK could play this way (including preflop, actually). And so could A4o, as it turns out. With the board the way it is by the river, I don't think Hero will be winning or chopping very often against an unknown, on Party 2/4. But he might be doing those things often enough. Anyway, I don't think I would have folded at any point. Probably I would have played the hand like Hero did. |
