KQ early on
this is a hand a friend played. it's a 5 + 0.50 at party. no reads on opponents.
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t30 (8 handed) converter saw flop|saw showdown SB (t1755) BB (t1880) UTG (t1160) UTG+1 (t3185) MP1 (t1310) Hero (t1810) CO (t940) Button (t1460) Preflop: Hero is MP2 with K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. Re: KQ early on
LOL....I can distinctly remember getting busted like this with KQo early in an SNG more than once....that's why I dont play it anymore, early in a tourny and especially not to EP raisers. I have no idea what the bets and raises mean at the 5 + .5 level, but I can tell you that getting busted with KQ when you flop two pair is not as uncommon as you might think.
FWIW - Once you've taken the flop and hit your two pair, you may as well push the flop. |

Re: KQ early on
I agree with you schwza...
Fold pre-flop. Raise to 800 after the flop. Call the all in. Looks like hero got outdrawn. I'm guessing the Ace helped villain here and gave him a higher two pair or straight. |

Re: KQ early on
for most players, I bet KQ is the single worst hand to play big stack NLHE with. It's just a terrible, awful NL hand.
this is an ugly situation once it gets to the hero on the flop. A push is probably +EV in terms of prize money (especially for a weaker player), but barely. A lot of times you are going to need your 4 outs. Yeah, fine, push. awful call preflop. never, ever do it. |
