Default Pushing mid pairs late

I recently took a booby prize in an Empire $5k guaranteed. I was in three off the button with octopusses and no one has entered the pot. Non-cash winners had just been eliminated. I'm short-stacked w/ fewer than 8BB, so I elect to push. Ran into AKo who flopped 2 pair and I'm out. Bad decision?

i think u made the right play here, being so short stacked you had to take a gamble here, sometimes youll loose those races, but in order to win an MTT you have to win your fare share of races
