Default Playing big-ish hands too fast

I think I sometimes leave chips on the table by playing big and moderately big hands too fast. Agree/disagree with the flop push? Anyone fold PF? Table was pretty passive and folding seemed pretty weak.

1st hour of a Party 30+3 MTT (940 runners). UTG is reasonably tight - we've seen him play 88, TT, and AKo. BB and MP3 are a little loose.

MP1 (t485)
MP2 (t2745)
MP3 (t2550)
Hero (t1130)

Preflop: Hero is CO with 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].

fairly new myself - but I would have done something similar - mainly to force out the flush/str draw options - better to win 1650 than lose it by being outdrawn

just my thoughts - tho more seasoned posters here know better!

cheers

I am suprised he folded thats a pretty bad play to bet pot, fold , with his stack and betting into so many callers.

you played it right. that board has too many draws. if you smooth-called, you might be posting a bad beat story.

i don't know how experienced you are, so don't take this wrong; but people who learn from wpt feel like they need to slowplay all the time. your play is way better at a full table in a mtt, imo.

I only joined to answer your question. I am also new to the game, however, I wanted to share my input. A set is a nice thing to catch on the flop and yes, you could be outdrawn by giving more cards. I would have re-raised UTG 300 hoping that he would call and increase the pot so I could maximize my profits. Sure, he could have had a higher pair or matched something on the flop but I would be willing to risk being outdrawn for a larger pot. He may of folded just the same and the results the same. He may have called and then you both see one more card. You could still catch a flush or a boat yourself as well as be outdrawn. Who knows? I think you have to be there at the table. I do agree that when you are in a tourney any win is a good win so do not second guess yourself, almost any hand can be outdrawn. Good Luck!

I dont like that line , as it is you are almost giving correct odds for a flush or Str8 to call @ 2.72-1 . JJ-AA is calling here any ways, I can't see what he is folding unless he was in horrible shape here, Like with PP less than 66, or 88, AK, KQ or something like that.

If you mini raise to 600+300+315= 1215

1215/300 = 4.05/1

Play is absolutely fine and by the book as far as i'm concerned.

You're ahead and want to stay that way, if someone calls on a OE draw or flush draw they have about as many outs to make it as you do to fill up or better- so get your money in fast and welcome any takers.

if it's checked to me here i'd bet the pot for sure, and possibly even open push.

wait. if he pushes, isn't he giving 1655 - 750? that's closer to 2-1 than it is 3-1. and not good odds.

the push is right. anything less is committing the error you speak of.
