Is there a rule for this? Game irregularity
Hi all,
I recently visited vegas for the first time (and it took a reasonable part of my bankroll ofcourse, but i am still ok). I came across a very odd situation, later I started wondering. I picked up 44 in MP in a 2-5NLHE in the Bellagio (i busted out the $500 tourney early so i thought i play a few cashgames). I called the smallblind called and utg called (not in that order indeed). Flop JQ4. SB checks, UTG bets $75, I call, SB goes allin, UTG folds. Now the following happends: I open my cards on the middle of the table thinking he had only $60 or so. SB says "Good fold", I say "I called" (meaning the $75 bet from UTG). He of course though I meant his allin (which i would have called of course if i knew I had to put in more $92 more it was). After the floorperson came and went upstairs to check camera's or something, I decided I would have called anyway if i had known so I, gentlemanly as I am, put in the $92. However, later I started wondering: Can they acually force me to put in more money in this situation. If they can't, is my hand dead?? Also, this (not calling) would have left the table steaming (which i like of course) :-) Please let me know what everyone thinks, Johan PS: SB had JJ and won the hand, I left the game |

What's more important to you: your dignity, or $92?

Re: Is there a rule for this? Game irregularity
I am not an authority but I think the only reasonable way to interpret "I called" is "I called the last bet to me" not "I called the bet before that and now I'm thinking about calling or folding again." See what I mean? Especially since you're talking to the SB; "I called your bet" not "I called some other guy's bet." Now, if you had not said anything in response to his all-in, before realizing you'd have to put in more, then to me it's clear you can call his all-in or fold.

what if it was $920 to call, smartass. How much is YOUR dignity worth? [/ QUOTE ] like I said, it's worth $45, so there would still be something to discuss. Only if it was less than $45 would it be irrelevant. Sorry, I have no other real thoughts on this. I didn't really fully understand what happened. |
