Running a laptop on a big screen TV?

I know I can use an s-video cable to broadcast my laptop image on my LCD tv, but does anyone know how I can then change the size of the image to handle the overlap problem. Thanks for any help.

TV's usually run at a low resolution, you wouldn't achieve anything by using your TV as a monitor, instead of the built in one.
