Default Bluff and tell?

If on a bluff you were asked " will you show me your hand, if I fold?" What do you do?

I'm not sure if you're joking or not but I actually do that a lot.

I ask becuse it really threw me off. I started to think he was looking for tells in my answer. I belived two things: if I say "yes" he'll think I'm bluffing, If I say "no" he might call to see my cards.

I think that most players that ask that have a subpar hand that isn't really worth calling a final bet for, and it's pretty apparent that it's beat. At the same time, they want to make sure that they're making a correct decision against you. That's the obvious.

You may be absolutely right, about the opponent wanting to get a reaction out of you. So unless you are cool as ice under this type of pressure, you should always default to the standard answer in ALL your hands at showdown time, and that is to politely smile and say no. Of course, you can be one of those sunglass wearing serious players that don't talk to anyone, but even if you are, you'll have to keep that image ALL the time to not show any tells. As for me, I like talking at the table. My friendliness puts opponents at ease and makes them show me their cards when I'm not in the hand.

Let HIM make the decision to call or not, don't help him.

I also don't know if this is a joke, but if it isn't its stupid and shows a pretty glaring misunderstanding of the point of poker.

I always say, "yeah, don't worry I will."

It kind of implies that you're dying to show the monster hand you have. If you decide you don't want to, toss them into the muck quickly. When they ask why you didn't show, you can say, "sorry, it's just automatic to throw them in, I had ________ " insert good hand and include suits. Makes it sound honest.

i never show my hands ever, unless forced to, so the regulars know I wont. If a tourist asks, then i normally tell them i'll show them one card of their choice, for half the bet they are considering folding to, but thats the best I'll do. No-one has taken me up on it yet.
