I'm too lazy to try and look up my biggest pot.

I'll just say that yours is an effing ginormous pot that far outstrips anything I think I've seen (won or not).

I won 42BB on .5/1 on Empire by totally sucking out on two made straights when I spiked a K on the river to fill up with pocket KK's. I felt really stupid for even being there and the table let me know it.....lol.

That's unreal, even for PP .5/1. Mine was 49BB at .5/1 PP a while back. It was Aces full.

I'm thinking about this more and I think it is more than just entertainment value . . . it offers some lessons about variance, too.

Imagine this is hand 10,000 for you at this level. You think you're a winning player, but only so-so and are nervous about moving to the next level -- but your goal was to move up after 10K hands if you had the BR, the confidence, and a "reasonable" win rate (though you recognized that winrate takes a lot longer to converge than 10K hands). If you lose this hand at showdown, you lose the 12 BB you contributed to the pot. If you win, you win 59BB from others. That's a huge range of between binary results based upon just one hand -- it could have dramtic effects on your winrate and could obviously have a dramtic impact on whether or not you have the BR to move up.

A sobering reminder of variance, IMHO.

Most definitely. Pot builder of the year. That hand really shows how much variance one can have. Like you said Catt variance can be big even after 10,000+ hands.

Wow, I thought the 49 BB pot I once raked in on Pacific with an A high flush was a monster. 72 BB... that is completely ridiculous.
