Default NCAABB 1/26 Unranked vs Ranked

One game for tonight.

YTD: 9-2

(8) Boston College
Providence -1

Take Providence -1

*Guys, this one looks ugly. This line opened at Providence -1.5. I fully expect this line to move in the Boston College direction. I grabbed it at -1 but will put some more on it if BC ends up favored by 2 or 3. Below are some reasons why I think this line will move. For some of you, it may be better to wait to place the bet. If it moves like I think it will, there could be a lot of value in this one. Why is Providence favored? I don't know. I just follow the trend.

Boston College is unbeaten (16-0) and Providence is 9-8.

Boston College is 5-0 in the conference and Providence is 0-4.

Boston College is 6-4-1 against the spread while Providence is 4-10.

Not sure if this affects your play or not NoChance, but this line opened at pk. It went to Prov -1.5 within 2 minutes of posting. Guess somebody was just waiting for this one to hit the screen.

I researched it further and you are correct. It opened at a pick. If that is the case, then this one really doesn't fit the trend. I guess for the reasons I listed above, I didn't think there was any chance the line would move that direction so I assumed they opened as a favorite.

My bet is already in so it's too late for me. I jumped the gun a little. However, if the line ends up moving to BC -2 or -3, there could be some good value there.

Use your own judgement on this one. Sorry about that and thanks for the heads up.

Can you clarify please? Are you saying to then take Providence +2/3, even though they are now the home underdogs playing against a ranked team? I can't see taking a dog against an unbeaten, trend or no trend.

Yes, I am saying there would be good value in taking Providence +2/+3. The extra value comes from the line movement caused by the very same thinking/reasoning you just gave. "No way I bet against an unbeaten team".

Looks like the line is not moving yet....
