Default For the next 2+2 game

The Party 50x stacks sorta suck, and there were no empty NL25 tables for us to take over. So there has been discussion of playing next time somewhere else, like Stars, where we can buy in for 100x stacks. But here's the thing... Stars also offers 250x stacks at the .01/.02 level. This would allow us a lot more room to maneuver postflop, since even the 100x stacks force people to stay in line to a certain degree. However, there is some concern that people would not take a $5 buy-in very seriously. Personally, I am a very competitive person and I would try my hardest even with no money on the line. And since no one figures to be a big favorite, I see our games as pure variance, and probably even -EV for some of the participants (obviously we are not all exactly equally skillful). So it makes sense to me that we should keep the stakes as low as possible.

So it basically boils down to:
1) Would you prefer stacks of 50x, 100x, or 250x?
and
2) Do you feel that people won't take the penny table serious enough for us to really benefit from the deeper stacks involved?

~edit: If you vote for "Friday night sucks" I meant for you to elaborate on when would be a better time to play.... not elaborate on why Friday night sucks. =P

Hey, I like Stars software 10000x better. And 250x bb would be sweet. Although I know I would be much more likely to make loose calls given the money isn't a factor. (Although, in party 25 it wasn't much of a factor, either... But 25 means alot more to me than 5. Well, abotu 5x as much. My math right?)

Very good point. And if the game is used as a learning tool, I think I could / would take it very seriously.

I also voted "Friday sucks," and that's because there's a Turningstone College Tournament this weekend. (I believe) I was going to play in it... So... Friday sucks :P (And I'm not going to be the loser who brings his laptop w/ him so I can duck up to the room to log on and play a 5$NL game...)

As soon as possible is fine with me, now that im looking to get back into NL. It sounds like fun. I personally like 100bb stacks, but 250bb sounds fun too. I dont know how many people will take a $5 buy in seriously. I remember the $25nl game we had a month or three ago and many didnt take that one seriously. So maybe if we all pledge to play for real, and ban anyone who pushes 250bb+ with crap preflop or something bad like that We have the power to ban people, right?
OK so 100bb or 250bb, im in, as soon as possible

In a moment of sheer brilliance I just realized that it would be perfectly feasible for us to run a couple tables at the penny stakes and a couple of tables with 100x stacks, so that everyone can play what they want. I feel a whole lot smarter now.

Will there be one table or many ? Ever considered SNG's ?

Am I invited ? If you want to argue with me at the poker table, be my guest. I may even argue back.

The short stacks kinda suck, but that is what most people play and the game gets deeper stacked after I rebuy a few times so I voted for Party (glad to see I'm the only one who did.) I also don't have a Stars account and don't have an easy way of opening one (long story, don't ask) but that was a secondary consideration, of course. And Friday night sucks because it is Saturday for me here and I will be at the Australian Open all day. How about Saturday?

Austrailian open ? Is that a poker tourney ? Anyway, I'm about to get a Poker STars account going and would like to play at these 2 + 2 tables just for kicks. Please not to expensive since I may lose the buy-in. I will identify myself when I show up. No imposters !!!

I voted friday night sucks because I'm usually (make that always) too busy on friday night to play online poker. Is there anyway we can do a sunday afternoon? Especially this weekend, there's no football games, so no one will be at the bars sweating their sports bets. I just know a lot of the posters on this board (me included) are college students who I assume value the drinking aspects of a friday night over the poker aspects. I would love to play in one of these games but I just cannot give up a friday night. Seems like sunday afternoon would be just as good for most people and you have the added benefit of people who have a weekend social life being able to play (not trying to offend anyone).

Edit: Even a saturday afternoon (US time) would be good. I just imagine there's a lot of people who have other things to do on friday and saturday nigth (such as playing a juicy home game) who would LOVE to play in the 2+2 game.
