Early Tournement...Bad play or bad luck?
My last 4 tourney's on Party have been a disaster. A $50, 2 $30's and a qualifier. All have been within the first 10 hands of the tourney...AA beat by A5 off, he called allin preflop an hits a gut straight on river, AA beat by JK suited he goes all in preflop and hits straight. AA beat by 78 off, goes allin and catches a set on the flop. KK beat by 23 suited and they flop a flush...
I usually play tight in the start to see how things shake out but if I get AA or KK and a chance to double I think I'm making the right call, am I not? |

Re: Early Tournement...Bad play or bad luck?
Let me clarify, AA all in preflop is not really the question. The real question I'm asking is after this bad run do you ever consider not pushing in this early?

Re: Early Tournement...Bad play or bad luck?
I normally try to avoid all-in confrontations early on. If I was being forced all-in early in a tournament, I would usually fold anything but AA or KK, unless I had a some-what high pair and knew the player had a lower pair.
The situations you mentioned are just bad luck. You cant avoid them. |

It's called variance. If you have the bankroll, 4 consecutive busts shouldn't matter and you'll be fine.
