Default UTG QQ KK AA?

If you are UTG with one of those three premier starting hands, how much do you raise for (mainly talking abount NL).

Sometimes i raise for 4xBB and get 1 or no callers, sometimes I either raise 2x or slowplay it and get outdrawed.

I am befuddled

Raise 4-5X BB with AA, QQ, KK UTG. Do the same with AK and AQ. Any time that you raise, make it 4-5X BB. People will start playing more hands against you when you have a standard raise because it will be more difficult for them to put you on a hand.

Raise by or to 4-5X BB?

If BB=2:

Raise by 8-10 to 10-12, or raise to 8-10?

thats pretty much same thing.

You do BB x 4.

if BB = 2 dollars
2 dollars x 4 = 8.

So it would be between 8-10.

I would heed caution in raising AQ 4-5BB in EP, I have lost more money by building pots out of position with AQ only to hit TPTK and losing my shirt.

I think what Poboy meant was to have a stanndard raise. That is, whatever his raising hands are from EP, make it the same amount regardless of the hand. I myself would probably just limp A Q from EP. What I wouldn't is make a weaker raise with it because it's a weaker hand. There is nothing sweeter to have an opponent that bets 2xBB w/ T T-JJ, 3xBB w/ QQ-KK and 4xBB w/ A A

At party $25 I raise to $3 or $4 standard. Usually $4 if it's a loose table or if I've raised a bit lately. Last night I was dealt JJ, KK, AK, and AA in a row and by the time I had AA (UTG) they thought I was just another maniac with a big stack and paid me off.

It's 1 BB different. I just want to know what is generally understood when one says raise 3x BB, etc.

But perhaps you're right, and it doesn't matter.

If there's a bunch of limpers already, I'd raise more than 4-5 BBs you don't want more than one or two callers with a big pp.
