Default Hotel recommendations, Commerce and Bay 101

I just tried to get a room at the Commerce Casino, at the hotel attached, and am told they're sold out for February. You'd think I might have some pull, but apparently not. ;-)

So, can anybody recommend a good and SAFE hotel not too far from Commerce Casino?

Similarly, I need to book a room for the upcoming Bay 101 Shooting Star event, and don't know what place is safe and reasonably close.

Thanks, Greg Raymer (FossilMan)

BTW, Greg if you happen to read this, I was just joking with you, I figured Andy would show up and give you some solid advice. I just didn't want your thread to fall of the first page.

Glenn and I are staying at Best Value Inn which is right off the highway, kind of catty-corner to Commerce.

If taken weekly, it's only about $30 per night, with a full kitchen. It sort of looks like a dump in the daytime, but I was assured by several of the circuit tourney players that it is fine. Then again, Glenn and I stayed at the Budget Inn several miles outside of Foxwoods and I thought it was fine, whereas many FWer's said it was a dump.

To each his own...

See you at Commerce, Greg.

Don't worry about crossing Slauson Ave, the Crips and Bloods all heard about the Bellagio incident and are afraid of Greg.
