Default K9s - getting in trouble from BB

I'm struggeling with 1/2. When I lose I lose much, but when I win I just win a little.

Now I feel I did go a little bit too far with my hand. What do you think? Do you think I should have dumped this on the turn? I had been around for one orbit, so no reads yet.

Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (8 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is SB with 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. UTG+1 posts a blind of $1.
UTG calls, UTG+1 (poster) checks, MP1 calls, MP2 folds, CO folds, Button folds, Hero completes, BB checks.

Flop: (5 SB) 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (5 players)

Turn: (4.50 BB) 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (4 players)

Why do you want to fold on the turn?

Do you dislike betting with top pair, second kicker?

Do you have a hand that should be check-calling, or do you want to try to put pressure on drawing hands (which includes overcards) to fold?

You should get a copy of Small Stakes Hold Em (if you don't have one already) and read about protecting vulernable hands.

EDIT: This was actually ment as an answer for sweetjazz.

I actually wanted to check-raise on the flop, but it seems that betting out would have been more smarter move.

And I already have SSH. Should re-read it though.

Why didn't you bet the flop?

Bet the flop. You can't risk giving free cards with this hand.

I agree, a lot of scare cards could come up on the turn.

It wouldn't have protected my hand since the flop bet came immediately from my left.

You're right. It's damn difficult to make right decisions immediately on the table.
