this one perplexed me 5/10 NLHE
5/10 NLHE at Borgata this weekend. A weak, loose player (Larry) limps in early position (he has $800). Several other limpers, I limp with A8o (I have $1500.) Button calls behind me ($400), blinds check. Pot is about $50.
Flop is AA6 with a flush draw. Checked to me, I throw out a green chip. I am deliberately underbetting to try and look weak. Button calls behind me. Now Larry check raises to $150 straight. I am fairly certain he has an ace, but I am unsure of his kicker. However, it is likely to be a low kicker since he limped in early position. But, I don't feel confident enough to commit my whole stack be reraising. So I flat call. Button folds. Heads up. Turn is a 6, board is AA66. Larry bets $250, and has $400 left. Now I was a little confused. There is a small chance he has quads 6's, but that is unlikely given the betting. So we are obviously chopping right now, but either of us could win if we hit our kicker on the river. So do I flat call, or move all in? If I flat call, what if the river is a high card and he moves in? |

Re: this one perplexed me 5/10 NLHE
Just call here. You have position, and can make sure all the money goes in on the river whether he bets or checks. If he moves in on the river obviously you call.
In case he has a pure bluff, though, you should just call. You may even get more money out of a 6 this way, if he checek-calls the river but would have folded for the turn raise (unlikely that this is the case). |

Re: this one perplexed me 5/10 NLHE
if you are asking 'should hero limp with these up front,' the answer is no, unless he is in an pretty loose passive game.
If its a really loose passive game you can limp, but only if its suited. Ax its trash in EP if theres a chance of a raise. |

He may have been asking how Hero can say that [ QUOTE ]
it is likely to be a low kicker since he limped in early position [/ QUOTE ] when Hero is only holding an 8 kicker himself. |

To summarize, everyone played poorly preflop. Flat call the turn. |

Re: this one perplexed me 5/10 NLHE
I agree, it wasn't a great limp by me, but I was in late position and the money was fairly deep. I was looking for A8x or 88x on the flop.
