Default Flopped a straight against possible flush draw

Stars $12 + 1 SnG, blinds 50/100, 5-handed. Top 2 ITM.

I'm in SB with 2760, the chip lead, and 8c 7s.
Button (2430) calls.
I complete.
BB (1045 in chips) checks.
300 in the pot.

Flop comes: 9d 6d 5s

Nice, I've got the nuts, but there's a possible flush draw out there. I bet 250, a la Harrington, and they both fold.

Standard play? Am I losing money always betting against a flush in this situation and scaring potential chips away?

i always bet as to not give them pot odds to make their flush. you need to protect your hand, and if they do go for their flush, make them pay for it.

This is a standard play for me,I don't want to give anyone the right price to draw out on me.

Standard play. The only hands that are calling anything are overcards, overpair, 2-pair, set and flush draw. The risk of chasing out the hands you're beating is well worth it to price out flush draws. You may still get calls from a set, 2-pair, etc...

If the flop was rainbow it'd be worth slowplaying and hoping someone makes a second best hand they like but your hand is too vulnerable against the draw to mess around. Take the 300 chips and be happy with them! (Bird in the hand, etc...)
