Poker In Panama (Brief report)
Played at the Majestic Casino in Panama City, a Crown Casino. The room is nice, three tables. They were spreading 2 No Limit games, with $10 and $25 blinds, with a $1,000 minimum buy-in. The games were dealers choice, between Holdem (or "Texas" as it is called here) and Omaha High. The games were a bit thin and would vary from 5 to 10 players as players would get up periodically to play roulette while still seated in the game.
The players were all locals, and it was not uncommon for the winner of a pot to toss $25 chips to his friends "for luck". This got out of hand when I folded a hand in an unraised pot on the turn to a bet from the button, who then rebated $25 to each of the other two players in the pot.) Dealers, who were pretty bad, were toked $5 generally and the rake was 3%, capped at $50.00 ..... yes, $50 USD. I am not saying this game is a +EV with that rake, but it was worth a look. The pace is very leisurely, about 20 hands per hour and many pots were contested to the river. The poker room is a very nice wood panelled room off the first floor of the casino. They also have a couple of blackjack tables and a roulette wheel in the same room. (The rest of the casino is three stories of gaming floors, set in a downtown shopping center, on a main drag in Panama City.) Truepoker CEO |

Re: Poker In Panama (Brief report)
Thanks for posting this. I'm off to Panama in early April. Are there any other casinos I should check out for poker?
