you know what speeds up a live game?
4 setup requests which 3 were given and multiple deck switches in one 8 hour session
how do you deal with these players that keep asking for these? should i say something? i mean we are already getting a monster 25 hands/hr, it seems ridiculous i once asked the dealer after one setup change if there were different cards in this deck, say more aces? thoughts? comments? cheers |

Re: you know what speeds up a live game?
3 setup changes in 8 hours? This is a problem?
Have you ever played at Commerce before? But seriously, there's not much you can do. They're allowed to ask for the setup change and they believe it changes their luck so there's not much point in arguing or trying to speak rationally to a player like that. |

Re: you know what speeds up a live game?
I wonder if there has ever been a player who has been WINNING that asked for a new set-up, outside of the normal reasons like a damaged card....

Re: you know what speeds up a live game?
What's the difference between a setup change and a deck switch? I haven't played a lot of B&M, and have never heard a request for either.

Re: you know what speeds up a live game?
A setup is 2 decks. A deck change is when you're using the first deck and you switch to the second. A setup change is when you get a whole new set of 2 decks (a setup). If you've already used one deck and are on the second deck, then a deck change prompts a setup change because you've already used the first deck and can't change back to it.

Re: you know what speeds up a live game?
I often say "Can we use an UNO deck?"
But really, anyone who thinks the cards have something to do with it is relying on luck. I have to believe having such a moron at your table is +Ev. |

What can be done about it?
Laugh. A lot. I mean, unless you're paying a time charge on the table, there really isn't any way that it's hurting you, is there? It's poker, not a race. If a new setup makes the fish happy, let the fish be happy. I admit that three setups in one hour would be annoying, but heck, keeping the fish happy is Job Two. |

Re: you know what speeds up a live game?
That is a great idea. I am going to wait until the next time I win 2 or 3 pots in a row and then I will ask for a seat change and a new setup at the same time! Pancho PS In 4 years I have only asked for a new setup 3 or 4 times and everytime it was because of a damaged/defaced/discolored card...... |

Re: you know what speeds up a live game?
Just for reference, tonight I played at Hollywood Park here in LA.
I was there for two and a half hours at a 6/12 table. We went through 11 decks. Only once was it because of a marked card. |
