Default Underage at Turning Stone?

Hello all,

I used the "search" function but I could not find any relevant posts. I'm 17 and planning on going to Turning Stone in NY with an 18 year-old friend this weekend.

How tight is the security? Will I be able to get away with using a friend's driver's license (he's 19)? I look somewhat like him, but under close scrutiny it's clearly not me.

Thanks for your help...

I've been carded once in 40 trips there (it was this year -- I was 20 at the time -- while I was in the middle of a hand, I jokingly told the security guard to go away I was involved in a hand. Then a big mean looking security guard said 'just give him your fu king liscense' I obliged - i think the gaming comission was in town)

Last time I was there I sat next to a kid who wasnt a day over 14 at the 1/2 NL table, nobody said a thing.

That's very reassuring, since we're coming from Connecticut.

Thanks for the reply!

I woulden't feel so safe if I were you. Last time I was there, I was carded at the poker table, and I think I've been carded three times in six trips. I look young, but not THAT young. My last trip, I saw a great deal of other kids being carded. Perhaps it was because it was over winter break, so they figured a lot of underage kids would be there.

One kid, who was clearly not 18, sat at my 1-2NL table and was carded before he even got dealt a hand, he was still un-racking. My friend (sitting next to him) was also carded, and while my friend was carded, the underage kid looked like he was going to [censored] a brick. The kid said he didn't have ID, the security guard escorted him to the cage to cash in, and then escorted him out. The guard then returned and carded three more people (myself included) sitting in the game.

Since the guard let him sell his chips back it wasn't a big deal, but there is a solid chance you will get carded. And the guard inspected the cards for a little while, so I think he would notice if you're using someone else's.

TStone is about 1:30 from cornell.

As to that last reply about a flury of carding at TStone... I am very surprised, like I said - I have been carded once in 40 sessions, that said it WAS on my last session there so it is possible that they are being more strict now. However it was that same last session that I was sitting next to the 14 year old (he left before I got carded and left with $500 playing the most ABC style imagineable)

Good Luck.

-Steve

I see kids in there that probably dont have pubic hair yet. Haven't seen anyone carded either.

Anyone who encourages a 17 year old to gamble in a casino or gives him advice on how to sneak into one ought to be smacked upside the head.

I hope your not referring to me. I just stated an observation. I'd prefer to have an open table for 20/40 instead of all of them being filled by 1-3 and 100 NL games for people who shouldn't be there in the first place.

This would not be a good idea. Be careful who you threaten. Poker is one of the best ways to make handy connections.

I wasnt making a threat, Orange. I was stating my opinion.
