Default Vegas Room Comps... Post-Payment??

looking to book a room for a 5 nite or so weekend stay... planning on playing some serious poker...
question is, "poker rates", "casino rates".. im looking to book the room before I get to the city obviously, if i do it thru expedia or priceline I doubt I could get any credits towards the bill from my play.
I get harrahs comps at AC and I have a ceasers card (ballys in AC), but thats about it..
Any advice on how to get the bill down, where to play, etc?

Im thinking of booking via excalibur's site for a room, and with my play can i eventually cut that bill down?
i hate excalibur cuz whenever u leave it u got that long walkway escalator trek back in it.. plus its kinda shabby.. I do plan on playing that NL $100 game there...

any other games similar to that? I don't think Im good enough for any LOCAL game action.. im looking to milk the tourists

im most familar with how the borgata comp system works if thats of any help

Or something similar for a downtown or offstrip casino..

thanks in advance for any input

also
- best doubledeck ?
- best single deck?
- best easy-to-comp buffet?

I know a lot of people stay at the Harrah's which is directly across the street from Mirage and probably through some online booking system, you can get a room there for much cheaper than even the Mirage poker room rate.

The Mirage, by the way, is pretty easy to get buffet comps from -- I was there about a month or so ago and while they aren't as generous as, say, those casinos in Mississippi there are equivalent to the Borgata (ask and ye shall receive). Although when you're at the Borgata they also pay you an hourly rate as well on your card and at the 10/20 it's like $2.50 per hour so you're getting like $50 per day just having your card click away.

Amazing!

Stay at Harrahs or Imperial Palace. If not a busy time, you should be able to find a mid week rate of $50-60 and weekend of $65-100 a night. Try Travel Axe, expedia, and travelscape.

Very short walk to Mirage(lots of $3-6 and $6-12 HE) and not much of a walk to Bellagio($4-8 and $8-16 HE). Also Flamingo,Harrahs, Alladin are all close and all have small poker rooms. Another place maybe is Orleans. Also search for the best rate on the sites mentioned. As low as $25-$60 during the week and $50-100 on weekends.

BTW, if you stay at a hotel, sign up for the players club even if you do not gamble on anything but poker. They often send out flyers with special room rates for future visits.

Also, if it is for a weekend you know may not be busy, lots of the discount sites lower prices in the days before. For instance, I got an average room rate of $73 a night at Harrahs for 4 days this weekend(Thurs night thru Sun night). That rate showed up at expedia just Saturday. Before that, I had been intending on staying at Orleans, but now I get a mid strip location across from the Mirage for the same price. I also notice that the prices for CC, Strat, and Sahara all dropped to an average of $60-65 a night during that stretch. All had been at $80-90 per night previously.

Downtown you can always get a cheap room. Lady luck and Golden Gate are almost never over $70 a night and often are $25-30 during the week. There are poker rooms at Binions, Plaza, and I believe at Golden Nugget. All are within walking distance of each other.

Traffic has become a bee-yatch in Vegas. A downtown to mid strip ride(say to the Mirage) will run $10+ and during bad times might hit as high as $20-25. I really would rent a compact car if you want to make that trip more than once. I think discount rentals run $20-30 a day and even cheaper than that sometimes.

Unless you have 3-4 peeps to share the taxi cost with.

If you have the time to spare, make use of the new monorail. Even if you want to go downtown from the south end of the strip, you'll save a few bucks taking the monorail to the sahara and cabbing up from there. It costs $3 each way.

Just got a special rate for the Orleans at $18 per night Mon thru Thurs from Travelaxe.com and with the Best Rate Guarantee you call the Orleans and they give you that rate and discount it another 5%. Arriving the 17th and departing the 21st. Weekends were a bit higher, but not so bad either .

The Gold Coast (property owned by same people as Orleans) has a better weekend rate than the Orleans. Both properties also have a free shuttle that runs every 15 minutes or so to the strip (Barbary Coast) and between the Orleans and the Gold Coast, so I use that to get to the strip to play at Bellagio and Mirage. And the games at the Orleans are not so bad either. Even though they have lots of locals playing, it's full of calling stations so if you play well, you will win. The low limit No Limit game at both the Orleans and the Gold Coast is also very good. Lots of fish swim in and out of both of the games. The hotel rooms are very nice and I have no complaints. Even my wife likes it there, so it has to be really clean. LOL (They shampoo the carpets in the rooms after every guest leaves.) The Orleans Poker Room comps $1.25 per hour played for the restaurants in the casino. Of course, you can't beat Mirage and Bellagio for tourist action. I'm like a bee to honey at those two places and spend most of my time there. I get to Vegas at least 5-6 times a year and get excited every for every trip.

Good Luck

oh crap, hit the send button before finishing.

Best single deck Blackjack - Las Vegas Club - downtown

Go see downtown....Freemont Street is a lot of fun at night...drink a beer or two and see the light show and watch the nightlife there.....great time, and you'll have lots of stories for back home.

Cabs....getting more expensive...$20 here $20 there...pretty soon you have spent a few hundred on cabs..however, if you want to get around cheaply, figure out the city bus system, and it's not hard at all. They run uptown, and up and down the strip all day and night for a couple of bucks. It's not a bad way to get to and from Freemont Street and the Strip. We have done it quite often.

Poker rates at most places are still quite high. Mirage once told me it was $99/night and I would have to play 6 hours. Well, I stayed at the Orleans for $30 and took the free shuttle and played for how ever many hours I wanted to play.

Best Buffet....IMHO is the Main Street Staion downtown on one end of Freemont Street. It's got everyting you want, and fairly cheap. Mirage offers some meal comps off of their buffet and Orleans gives $1.25 per hour played, but it isn't much especially considering most buffets are pretty cheap in Vegas anyway.

While you are downtown, try the Golden Nugget for their low limit NL game or the Horseshoe for the same game. No red chip games down there anymore it seems.

Have fun man......I always do
