Default 88 unimproved

This was my most fun ad interesting hand last night.

2-5 Spread Limit in Blackhawk

PFR was a LAG who was trying his best to look like hot stuff. LP raiser was a dealer at another local casino.

I'm Dealt 88 in MP
2 limpers, LAG raises, Hero Cold Calls , 1 Call, everyone calls
6 to the flop for 1 BB

Flop: 7 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 2 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
Checked to PFR who bets, Hero Raises , LP raiser makes it 3, PFR calls, Hero Calls
3 To turn 15 BB

Turn: Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
PFR checks, Hero Bets , LP 3 better calls!
18 BB

River: K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
Checked Around
18 BB

Did you consider raising pre flop to isolate the raiser?

Any more thoughts?

I was wondering about my preflop coldcall; with the texture of the game i was expecting atleast a 5 way pot. If I 3 bet there was a good chance it would have been 3 handed.

I 3-bet pre-flop because I see this happening:
-if its 3 or 4 way i have a couple of early position limpers hands (sign of a bad player to begin with) and a LAG raiser in the pot so this is a good +EV mix for 88
-if more people call i have set odds in a huge pot and it's not all that bad
-if less people call i have showdown value with my 88 and its probably the best hand

This looks like a spot that getting seemingly a bit out of line is crafty.

Having cold called the line is fine. You have to bet that turn it looks like LP has the nut flush draw. Check is fine on the river let them bluff for you!

In a spread limit game its hard to make these decisions without knowing how much you raised or bet. Can you advise what the bets/raise amounts were? This will influence the play of the game

original poster will have to answer for 100% certainty... but in my experience nearly always in these games people raise the full max 5.

that is correct, almost 100% of the time all bets and raises are 5 dollars. Some times you get a retard that always bets 3 or 4 or something. But in this hand all bets were $5.

Thanx for info.

I 3 bet PF against a LAG if I decide to play this hand. I don't like the call. You want to get the hand HU if at all possible.
