are you angry that you made the right move or that random occurances dont always favor you? all 4 of your opponents had odds to draw to a gutshot on that flop (regardless if they knew that or not).

I'm angry that I didn't wait till the turn to raise on a safe card. But I don't know if it mattered. I had terrible position for my good hand.

This situation does not apply in this hand. You may be overapplying this concept.

sombody after you would have bet it, so this would be more of a trapping move than a protecting move.

If I could get button to bet it and then raised after SB called/folded, I'd be giving the rest of the field 7:1 odds, not enough to draw to a gutshot.
