Set vs. Probable draw - Round 1
I'm having trouble with these types of hands. The villan in this certain hand just sat down so I didn't have a clear read, so lets just assume he is semi-loose and typical for arguemental purposes.
Party Poker 3/6 Hold'em (9 handed) converter Preflop: Hero is MP2 with T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. 3 folds, Hero raises, 4 folds, BB calls. Flop: (4.33 SB) J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) BB bets, Hero calls. He could have a made hand here, but I am leaning towards him having a draw. I have seen these types of players bet into the PF raiser with a draw more times than top pair. So I wait to raise the turn when hopefully a blank card falls. Turn: (3.16 BB) K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players) BB bets, Hero calls. Not exactly a blank. This is where I have trouble. Either he has the straight, and I am behind with a bunch of outs, or I am ahead and may scare him off the pot with a raise. I call? River: (5.16 BB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players) BB bets, Hero raises, BB calls. Yahtzee. Final Pot: 9.16 BB Comments about all streets wanted. Re: Set vs. Probable draw - Round 1
This board is so draw heavy that I would just raise the flop, because so many scare cards can come on the turn that will convince you not to raise there.

Raise the flop and try to find out what you're up against. Draw heavy board, don't get greedy take it down when you can.

This board is so draw heavy that I would just raise the flop, because so many scare cards can come on the turn that will convince you not to raise there. [/ QUOTE ] Ok, so I raise the flop and he calls. The K or a [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] comes on the turn, he checks and I bet. Is there no way around opening yourself up to a checkraise on a draw heavy board? [ QUOTE ] Draw heavy board, don't get greedy take it down when you can. [/ QUOTE ] I am not getting greedy and waiting to raise the turn "for value". My gut feeling is that the board is so draw heavy, I can't take it down now. A draw isn't folding to a flop raise; not much is. My goal is to either raise the turn with the better hand or raise the turn to charge a draw (if a blank falls). A blank did not fall on the turn, which made the hand difficult... Haupt_234 |
