Default TPTK: How ARE you supposed to play it?

OK, obviously you have to be wary of aggression when you only have TPTK but you also have to protect your hand against draws. Anyone play this differently? MP2 is basically your routine calling station, but CO is pretty solid.

Ultimate Bet No-Limit Hold'em, $.25 BB (7 handed) converter

<font color="#C00000">CO ($20.10)</font>

I don't know the answer to your question. I play it a bit softer, I rarely bet that much in a multi way pot, cause this is not a hand I wanna make much or lose much with.

This should be an interesting topic, really. Do you wanna bet tough to give draws an incorrect price, or do you wanna slow down so you don't get trapped by someone who's just calling with a superior hand?

I suppose you lost this one, to both of them. One with a made hand and one with a draw.

My thinking was basically:
Bet the pot on the flop - standard. I don't want to see a K, Q, 10, 8, or heart on the river. That is a lot of cards, so I better play it fast on the turn. I saw a card I didn't love on the river, but it was the least likely of the ones I didn't want to see to hurt me, I thought, so I may still have the best hand and I don't want to get blown off it so I threw out a bit of a blocking bet, a bit of a value bet from a worse J (particularly likely I thought from MP2 who would call off the rest of his short stack.)

Does that sound right?

It looks good. I would likely overbet the pot on the flop though to make sure to chase draws. I like the bets on the turn and the river, and if someone made their draw on the river, shame on them for not raising you (unless MP2 hit, which was going to happen regardless as he was committed early.) I think you beat one of the two, with one having a T and the other having KJ or QJ. Good line here.

I like how you played it. If MP2 is the calling station you suggest he is then he either sucked out his draw or just called you down with a weaker J. The call from the CO on the turn is interesting. If he's tough/tricky then I'm concerned he's got me with a set or 2 pair, if he's solid/straight forward then I put him on KJ - hoping its good but not wanting to really commit to it.

From where I sit this hand was Well Played!

Play Well!

Default Results

Thanks for all of the replies. I see TPTK type hands as a major weakness of a lot of SSNL players and I am trying to make sure that it isn't one for me. Thanks for the help. Here are the results:

Hero shows Jd As.
Hero has Jd As 9h Jh 8d: a pair of jacks.
MP2 shows Qh Js.
MP2 has Qh Js 9h Jh 8d: a pair of jacks, queen/nine kickers.
CO shows Kc Ks.
CO has Kc Ks 9h Jh 8d: a pair of kings.

What do you think about the way CO played it?

Wow. CO is easily the most passive player I've ever seen. That's just a tough spot to be in. TPTK in an unraised pot against KK. I'd just pay it off and just be glad he didn't raise the river and you lost more.

It's not like CO can raise the river. Any 6 or 10 gives anyone a straight.

I might check the river and then decide whether to call a bet.
