I play these both the same - hand 1 the pot is very big but MP1's play screams 'I have a set!!'. Hand 2 is more likely an overpair, 99 or above, or someone going a bit mental with AK.

he just called PF thought it was good. maybe fold on turn to the 3bet and save 2 bets?

Hand 1 is fine.

Hand 2 I'm calling the turn and raising the river/folding to a 3-bet. Calling the turn 3-bet and folding are both good options here. A read really would help on the villian dude.
