1. http://www.cheapovegas.com for reviews on all the hotels; try the typical online discounters; popular budget locations include: Orleans (off strip), Imperial Palace or Barbary Coast(center strip), downtown

2. Orleans, though more places are offering NLHE tournies in this range now

3. not that I know of

4. HE 5-10 ish - $4-8 everywhere, $6-12 Mirage; O8 - Mirage $5-10, Bellagio $6-12, low-buyin tournies at Orleans; stud8 - nowhere? Orleans tourney is gone now; nlhe 2/5 and smaller? - $1-2 everywhere, $2-5 Mirage, Bellagio, probably some others too(?)

5. I thought it was Palms or Hard Rock? No comment.

6. If you've got a car - Hoover Dam, Red Rock Canyon; walking/cabbing, I like Bellagio lobby, gallery, fountains, Mirage volcano, gondolas at Venetian, top of the Strat (the rides!), midway at Circus Circus; Fremont Street Experience

7. Any of the spas at the higher end hotels (Bellagio, Paris, Mandalay)

8. http://www.allvegaspoker.com

Enjoy! Write a trip report when you return!

When i stayed in vegas i stayed at the frontier, i am not sure if they are still open. They had large rooms and were like $40 a night.

the aladdin's mon-thurs 1pm tournament is probably the fishiest but won't be as big as the hotels like orleans (GAG, nasty-ville local players and not trustworthy with the tourney cash or user-friendly to the players).

good luck ever finding O-8 here, let alone pot limit. You'll find limit O-8 5-10 full kill at mirage, but it's full of local sharks. other than that, everything but hold'em is basically dead in vegas (except at upper-mid to high limits). no limit hold'em is thriving tho, particularly at the 1-2 blinds $100 buy-in level.

since i live here i am not too up to date on prices for hotels, but felicialee is a fantastic poster to ask about it. ask for a poker rate tho if they have a cardroom. excal might be a good one to try as they have a good cardroom that it would not be a burden to play at enough to get the discount. not sure if they have it or not tho. mirage does but they are not cheep by any means. aladdin still does not, they are lagging their assess on THAT.

i don't know about the massage scene, regular or otherwise.

if you want to spend that kind of cash, the restaraunt "hugo's cellar" at the four queens is fantastic, but plan on $40-$80 a head.

for cheeper but delicious food, try joey's bistro on top of carriage house on the southernish end of the strip.

the buffets in town are numerous and terrific. from the super-cheep to the $29ish range, they are all good. notables are aladdin, rio, mirage and bellagio for expensive, paris breakfast buffet (about $16) a MUST DO, and terrible's (slightly off-strip) for the cheepo in you (about $7-8).

There is much in the way of sushi here, it's all basically very good, but the best are off the strip, specifically yama sushi on flamingo and maryland parkway.

just in case you don't know, if anyone is going to be with you who is going to play slots, video poker, or anything electronic, make damn sure they have a comp card in the machine from minute ONE. it also doesn't hurt to present your comp card to the pit boss if you plan to play any table games, you may or may not get rated/get comps but it doesn't hurt to try.

perhaps we can get a 2+2 super-magoo game going when you are here. anyone interested please do chime in.

If you're going to be on the strip... Harrah's as a decent low buy-in NL tourney. (side games are average)

If you're to be downtown... the Horseshoe as a couple daily low buy-in NL tourneys. (side games are nothing but fish)

1) Stay downtown
2) By "small" PLO games what do you mean? 5/5 blinds? 2/5? Call Horseshoe, I have seen a PLO game there on the weekends
3) By 5/10 HE I assume you mean the 4/8 - 6/12 range? Most of the strip rooms; Mirage, Bellagio, Mandalay...call around
4) O8 is played at Orleans from the 2/4 level up to 10/20, I believe. 20/40 is at Bellagio, 4/8 and sometimes 6/12 at Station properties
5) Stud 8 is a toughie. Palms and Palace are probably your only hope, if they have them going at all
6) Baby NLHE is virtually everywhere these days
7) Tourneys change all the time. For loose/passive play, stay on the strip, for loose/aggressive play, downtown is usually the place

Visit lasvegasvegas.com for more comprehensive tourney listings. It's not my site, but they keep up on the daily tourneys around town.

I was in vegas in August. Stayed and played at Harah's. They only spread 2-4 and 4-8 w/ a Kill. The last night i was there they spread a 2-5 no-limit $300 max buy in. I was able to come home $300 up. This after a $900 bar tab on Sat night. They have a small poker room(i live in connecticut and play at Foxwoods which has a very large poker room, so they all seem small), but it didn't seem like it was full of local sharks.

Other than poker there is a local gun store that lets you rent and fire fully automatic weapons....Lots of fun!

If your into the clubs of the exotic variety i would recomend Sapphire's...Jay Leno is quoted as saying "Its like Cost-co meets Hooters"....Also lots of fun. If your going with a group i recomend reserving the "rock star lounge".

One side not on the limit games. In vegas they allow 1 bet and 4 raises. Here in CT and anywhere else i've played its capped a 4 bets. Woulda liked to know that before i just called 4 bets W/ AA from the small blind.

Anyway have fun and Good Luck!

Orleans has daily 4/8 O8 with 1/2 kill game as well. These people chase everything, and I mean, everything. It's my favorite Omaha hi/low to play in town.

As for stud, Mirage runs a 1-5, 5/10, Excalibur has 1-5, Sams Town has 2/4 and 2/4 Stud8, Bellagio had a 30/60 and 15/30 stud game going friday the 7th.
