Foxwoods 1/2 NL Last Night
I've been playing the 1/2 NL game at Foxwoods for a few months now and last night was easily the most profitable (~$900 for 8hrs of play). Monday afternoon/evening I had been getting great cards, and after retreating back home (Boston) for some rest I decided Tuesday night to head back down. I ended up sitting from about 9:00pm until 4:00am. It was a good time, aside from the hour or two where Foxwoods was apparently having something done to (or a problem with?) their sewage system.
The one thing I really love about this specific game is that it seems there is no respect for pre-flop raising, so by sticking to the premium hands I was able to play with more confidence post-flop than I have in the past. Do any 2+2ers sit at this game? It would be nice to know who to look out for. Take care, -Josh |

[/ QUOTE ] They were apparently pumping a nearby septic tank--it was really horrendous. There was also a guy in my game with tourettes who kept making this weird hooting noise, and the alarm kept going off on the doors downstairs and making a charming high pitched beep. Then this greek guy wouldn't stop screaming at another guy in my game for sucking out to a chop against him. All in all, just another lovely night at Friendly Foxwoods... Also, I think the 5/5 game at Foxwoods is starting to dry up. It didn't look very good for most of the time Evan and I were there. scrub |

This seems sort off counter intuitive to me in a NLH game...unless it is pretty passive. Please explain. |

I'm in that game almost every weekend (though I was out of town for the holidays and haven't played since mid-December). Assuming the weather doesn't make the drive undoable, I'll be there Saturday.

This seems sort off counter intuitive to me in a NLH game...unless it is pretty passive. Please explain. [/ QUOTE ] Re-reading it I see what you're saying. It seemed that if I had the premium hands (pairs of 10's and higher, AK,AQ,AJ,KQ) when the hands were raised pre-flop, that I could push pretty hard and take the pot down right then. When I did have to showdown I think 90% of the time I had the best hand (many times just TPTK). It was a *very* passive game (especially post-flop), I had the feeling maybe three players at the table (including myself) knew that re-raising was an option. But, when I would throw in a raise pre-flop ($10/$15 usually) it seemed the most common hands to call with were Ax, Kx, connectors (suited or not). This had me playing fairly aggressively knowing that, generally, if I got any piece of the flop, I had the best hand. I would play other hands as well, but only for $2. I hope this explains my thinking more clearly. I will try to have some specific examples next time, I just have a very bad memory for recalling hands. For anyone else who has played the game (or similiar) feel free to offer better advice for beating it. Take care, -Josh |
