Default AJs against EP raise

UTG is Loose/Passive (40% VP$IP, 3% PFR).

Party Poker 0.5/1 Hold'em (9 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is MP1 with A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
UTG raises, UTG+1 folds, Hero calls, MP2 calls, MP3 folds, CO folds, Button folds, SB folds, BB folds.

I don't like to cold call an early position raiser, but AJs is a hard hand to lay down.

Flop: (7.50 SB) A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players)
UTG bets, Hero raises, MP2 folds, UTG 3-bets, Hero caps, UTG calls.

Did I go to far by capping, or should I have called the 3-bet?

Turn: (7.75 BB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)
UTG bets, Hero calls.

River: (9.75 BB) 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
UTG bets, Hero calls.

Is the call down the appropriate play?

Final Pot: 11.75 BB

Thanks for the comments.
Shaun

Fold hard preflop, especially against a 3% PFR who's raising UTG.

Had you been on the button behind a few coldcallers, it's another story.

Fold this preflop. If someone has a PFR% of 3% then they are probably only raising high pockets QQ-AA. If so you are in dire straits.

The most hands he probably raises are JJ-AA and AK. You are a huge dog against AA and a big one against KK, AK, JJ, and QQ.
Just fold this preflop.

On the flop I just call the 3bet and call down from there.

I expect to be shown AK, AA, or JJ. I doubt someone would 3bet without at least a set or TPTK here. I think he probably has JJ or AA and your hand is no good.

But you definitely should have folded this preflop when someone with a pfr like this raises.

The education continues...

He turned over AA for the boat.

I guess I learned a 5BB lesson.

Thanks
