Default Using the \"auto-bet\" in Party (checking the box)..

Okay, I know, confusing subject. I'm fairly new (a couple of months) to Party Poker and have held my ground much thanks to you folks and SSHE. I've been working hard on my aggression as I still feel I have a ways to go. Of course, this comes into play mostly in my actual play but I've noticed something else as well.

When I'm heads-up or three way and have a decent hand but not necessarily a great hand I've been checking the "bet" box as fast as possible (before it comes around to me) - just as an experiment. This can be tough when I'm multi-tabling. Of course, I have no way of actually measuring results but people seem to be folding more the faster I actually lay down a bet. I guess this logically makes sense but I'm just looking for others opinions on the topic.

Do you guys typically get your bets down as fast as possible? Would it ever be fair to say this actually makes a difference in having someone lay down or not lay down? Anyone have comments on creating a strong/aggressive image in general? Just looking for some comments - sorry if I sound like an idiot.

I don't think it really matters. If they are going to call they will call.

Only time I ever use the auto button is if I am multitabling and I very very rarely ever use the autobet/raise button.

I don't know about after the flop, but pre-flop if I raise and someone instantly 3-bets, I am 99% sure they have a monster.

I know I'm guilty of it sometimes when I'm doing other stuff. You see AA or KK click "Raise Any" and go back to doing what you were doing (porn).

I had a guy who did this to me on the River the other night at Paradise. I placed a bet and his raise was clearly on "autoraise."

With only one more bet to call a decent size pot, I called and he showed down the nuts.

Every time I've seen an auto-raise back to me (less than five times, probably), the auto-raiser had at least TPTK. So, it is some sort of online "tell." Except when its not.

Sort of what I was thinking. Could be taken as a tell.. or a bluff. Or it could just matter so little it's not worth discussing.

Could be a tell, could be a bluff, could be...

(Dare I say it?)

...a misclick? I'm guilty of this one, flipping over to my browser (porn?) on a hand that I'm sure I'm folding, so I'm killing time until the bet gets to me (I like a pregnant pause before I fold, just to make it look like I'm struggling with the decision), and just as I'm about to click a link the Party table pops back up, and, WOW, the link I was going for lines up perfectly with the "Raise" button. Oops.

I do take note of it when I see it, but I won't use that as a tell the first time. As with any tell, it's important to recognize it as part of some sort of pattern of that player.

Some players will do the very opposite and really drag out their good hands, trying to make you believe that they've got a tough decision. And sometimes it's just a bad internet connection. And sometimes they really do have a tough decision...

The most relevant way I've seen this is when a tight player uses the auto-raise any button preflop (making it 3-bets). This is the most reliable situation by far. But, then again, I'm folding most hands when a tight player 3-bets, so it's not all that useful. Usefulness aside, it does provide some entertainment. It's loads of fun trying to figure out if it's AA, AK, or KK by seeing how the hand plays out, and even more fun to see that you were right, and seeing that some fish called him down with bottom pair.

The only auto-play I use is the auto-fold.

You need to know what they think of you for this to work. There are some (not many) LAG types out there who recognize that you're tight and try not get involved with you too much -- you know, the thinking LAGs... oh... that's only a myth? I swear I ran into one... once...

It might happen, but there are many other things to worry about that will help your game much much more.

The worst is when you've completely whiffed the flop, and click the Fold To Any Bet option ... Just so happens it gets checked around to the river, and then you look back at the window you realize you've runner runnered a str8 and have to unclick the box before the betting gets to you ...

I certainly pay attention to the auto raise. 95% of the time it means, I have a good hand.

No no no... autofold hands preflop, like 94o in late position. If I'm in the hand, I don't like to be mindless, and I click each play individually. I also don't multi-table, which makes it much easier to keep up with the action
