Default How much would you bet on a coinflip?

At the end of my 5-5 NL session today (I was up a little bit, around 300) one of the players cashing out (a real LAG up 6k) semi-jokingly asked who wants to flip a coin for $100. I nearly jumped out of my shoes to take this even money bet! Im an addicted gambler and would flip a coin for virtually any amount. Just wondering if others here think the same way...

The thing that most do not realize is that not all coin flips are 50:50. If you're seriously going to flip a coin for money pull out a penny and call tails. In a US penny the heads side is slightly heavier than the tails side which causes the expected outcome of that coin flip to be tails about 50.5% of the time and heads about 49.5% of the time. So technically over the long run it would be +EV to bet on tails coming up in a coin flip of a penny. Not sure whether or not this works for any other coins.

He is, though I don't think the edge is as much as .5% ... I think it's less, but it's been a while since I saw the CNN article.

Is that some sort of hotline for tips?

A 50/50 bet is waaayyyy better than most bets at a casino, so why would it be crazy to do it? Plenty of people betting on way worse odds all the time..

Ooops, I almost forgot to post results:
He says I can flip or call, I choose flip because I read a twoplustwo post a while back about people who can make a coin flip one way or another with practice. He calls heads. The coin hits the ground with a thud. Tails! He flips me a black chip.

You missed several points, but how does using the bad logic of others, to justify this situation, make any sense?

Fiji from Cleveland... I used to flip coins for everything... going to class to day, shotgun this beer, etc. Ya gotta love the coin toss... we bet on it occasional for dollars
