MP had played 3 of 9 hands so far with no preflop raises and had not seen a showdown.

The only weak tightie I can see is Hero.
There is no way you should fold this based on 9 hands of information

if you raise the turn, a blank falls, and he bet the river, you still call right? is the chance of this happening when you raise worth the advantages raising has when you are vs a flush draw?

I actually kinda like the suggestion - I had position, should be calling down anyway, and I can't imagine very many people will pull a stop-and-go here. (although as the session progress, this guy turned into the stop-and-go master)

Although this is clearly helpful, I think this free showdown play is to charge the draw AND/OR to avoid a difficult decision on the end. We check behind on the river having already got our value bet in [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]. In addition it is likley to disuade a river bluff by a missed draw and "once in a blue moon" the raise adds folding equity and they drop a better hand (ha ha).

Of course the opponent betting the river is against the rules; report him [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]
