Default Harrington on Holdem

Harrington on Holdem - purely for tournaments or applicable to ring games??

For example - should i call in a ring game with almost any 2 cards in SB if most of table has limped in....ie pot odds of like 5 or 6/1.

Just off the top of my head example - but what im asking is can i use this book to improve my cash game play?

Yes you can. Although on deeper money than in most of his hand examples, I would probably be making more pot sized bets on the flop. I would also be raising a lower % of the time with AKo/JJ/TT from early position, and re-raising a raiser a lower portion of the time with AK/QQ.

Along with the 2 Ciaffone books, it's the best book available on cash game no limit holdem.

I am aware of the PL/NL Ciaffone book, but what is the other one you are refering to?

I picked it up thru work last week, and am getting into the meat of it right now. I think the strategies are somewhat applicable, especially the section of preflop betting, which is working some wonders for some of the problems i've been having lately.

As far as calling any two cards when you have the correct pot odds, i don't know if I buy it. I'm certainly not going to call with 72o no matter how technically correct it might be.

Improve your poker. It has a big-bet section, a tournament section, + about 18 of the other chapters are very relevant to the game. It's also a good book for limit holdem and pot limit omaha. Excellent book.

As I have the book near me, here's some article headings and sections:

Integrate your game

Tight and loose play

Your eyes
Stealing blinds and antes
Advertising
Using leverage
Your table image

I know what you mean - last week i found myself calling in such spots with 94o, 85o and the mighty T3s lol. I wasnt even sure what the hell i wanted to flop with them, and was glad when i missed haha.

Guess i'll leave those murky waters be for the time being
