Default Teach me to protect - PUH-LEASE!!!

What did I do wrong on this hand? Should I have check-raised on the flop? It seems this has been my luck for the past month on Party.

check the flop, 1sml bet isn't gonna make much fold, if the CO bets you can raise hopefully driving out the backdoor flush draws(or make them pay extra to see the turn at least)

if its checked through the pot is only 6.25BB on the turn, bet out and hope the flush misses, I don't see a way to protect vs the flushdraw

Uh, you don't want people to fold here.

no way I'm checking on the flop. If the flush comes it comes, in many circumstances you can't effectively protect yourself against it. Well played.

Why would you want to drive them out? A backdoor only comes in like 4% of the time. Sometimes you lose no matter what you do.

What if MP2 had A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]? Would he want to check and wait for CO to bet and raise to protect against straight or is that too much of a long shot draw to worry about also?

Any straights here are probably gutshots and not worth worrying about as such because they're drawing thin AND you have redraws against them (ie they'll make it say 20% of the time by the river, but you'll make a boat about 1/3 of the time). Hero played this hand perfectly.

I would play it the same except for the river where I think this is an easy 3-bet.

But since no one has mentioned it yet I'm probably just full of crap.
