Default Getting checkraised in a protected pot...

Did my overwhelming urge to bet the flop get me into trouble here?

Opponent is TAG, seems good postflop; guy in between is calling station.

Yikes. You're that sure he has AK, AA, or KK?

I'd check-raise this flop with AQ in the SB and maybe with QQ also.

you are both at a .5/1 table. i make it to the showdown with top pair good kicker on a board like this one.

I dunno, pretty sure. Maybe not sure enough though. The guy really seems solid. He wouldn't 3-bet AQ against me, so that leaves 2 combos of AQs and 12 combos of AK, and even against TAGs, the flop checkraise almost alwasy seems like a very strong hand. I dunno.

I think it was a bad fold, but I'm not sure by how much.

Which is why I'm not so sure about my flop bet.

If he will only 3-bet AK, AQs and AA-JJ then it is a good fold. It is kinda hard to give advice because you made a read on this guy and went with it. In general, I think you are giving this guy too much credit. You raise a lot of hands preflop (correct?), and there was only 1 coldcaller, so he might be more inclined to make a loose 3-bet.

I guess the real question is this: when your opponent may be capable of being tricky and making bluff-checkraises, and this flop is checked to you, what's the proper action? Bet and call? I think bet/folding this flop is pretty lame.

How does the player in between change how I have to play the hand out?

You can't not bet this flop

I'd call the CR and call it down and probably be shown AK most of the time, but something else enough to make it +EV

Plus you could runner runner Qs or JT...

TAG's don't check/raise underpairs when it is 3-bets PF (at least if he has QQ or JJ). If he has something like 88 then maybe. From his point of view, the pot isn't protected (if MP1 had called your bet and he still raised then his hand would be "stronger" from that perspective). If he knows that BB will call all the way, I don't think he is bluffing in this spot. He might have diamonds or AJs or something like that...

i dont think its wrong to 3-bet this flop at all. top pair means so much to me at these .5/1 tables and they have made a lot of money. i dont even bother with reads at the .5/1 level. i just categorize them as non-idiotic or idiotic.
