Default Holiday promos at PokerRoom.com

There's been some talk about the Snowmen Freeroll (which I think is a cool promo, just hope that the site won't be flooded with 8s so there's some nice cash for the winners) and their packages, but how do you feel the other promos they're running match up? The WSOP raffle seems like a really cool thing, shouldn't be *too* hard winning a $10+1 tourney at off-peak hours (some only have like 50 players, esp. if it's not holdem) and that gives you a free shot at a super cool prize and a bunch of other prizes (though I wonder what they are). The casino spot cash giveaway should could also give some extra value, I feel. 400 $50 prizes awarded, that ain't half bad. And their new $10k guarantee ($10+1, 1 rebuy+add-on) has had a really big overlay the first few days. Probably gonna pick up soon, but right now it's good value.

So, what do you think? Thinking about sending my brother a gift voucher tomorrow as a x-mas gift, do you think it's worth it for him or does some other site have better promos right now?

The Quirky Kirko

The quad 8's is still underdebate I have yet to see the correct odds for 7 cards odds of quad 8's. SO it's hard to tell how many will be in that freeroll.....I'm clearing my bonus now though for the added EV.

There were 97, including me (far less then the 1000+ I predicted, shows what I know).

Came in 13th. Top 10 paid. I am not a happy camper right now.

This is interesting. It's been a while since I read the promo, but seems I recall reading that they planned to pay out to 100 places with 1st getting X dollars. I remember being surprised by: (1) the money wasn't guaranteed and (2) that they planned on paying out to top 100. Even though it was for 72 hours, I couldn't imagine thousands or even hundreds of quad 8's being dealt (all quads, yes; specifically quad 8's no - and yes I'm aware that it didn't require both hole cards to be 8's). I also commented on my curiousity if the promo would be enough to get people away from Party and skins. Thanks to Justin and Ripped, I think most whores have spent their last two days at Party and NOW.

Sorry to hear what happened to you! Glad to hear a response, as I was curious to see how it went.

I didn't really look at it...but I don't remember them saying they were going to pay the top 100. Interesting.
Perhaps pokerroom did not calculate the number of people who would get quad-8's at all and simply were 'guessing'. This was my hunch all along.

I posted before that I didn't think hundreds would get this. It just seemed silly to me.
If they got 500 players over period (3 days to qualify for it, right??) that would have meant 7 players qualifying EVERY HOUR. I just didn't think that 1 player getting quad-8's every 9 minutes or so was very realistic.

I guessed less than 50 though so I wasn't terribly close either.

The reloads elsewhere didn't keep me away from the pokerroom promo. The fact that I just wasn't that interested in this promo kept me away....and I think it might have been the same for other 2+2'ers.
I would have been playing elsewhere even without the reloads.

I gave it a shot since I had the turkey day bonus still to clear. Had quad Q's and flopped a set 8's, closest I could get.

PokerRoom.com is my regular site, so I just sort of stumbled into it. Wasn't really even thinking about it.
