Default O8 question

i just finished reading ray zee's HLSP book and was surprised that he did not have an odds section. i am already very familiar with drawing odds in high but what i want know is, do you count bets like in holdem and how closely do you keep track of the pot size beyond big, small, medium. also is there any other book worth reading on the game. thanks

It's basically the same except you want to discount your outs more. For example if you're drawing to a flush you want to give yourself only 8 outs instead of 9 because one of the flush cards will pair the board. Additionally you also want to halve your outs (or the pot) if you're drawing for half of the pot. For example flop is 8 6 3, 2 hearts and you have AQQJ suited in hearts to the ace. The pot has 4 BB, somebody bets you would fold because even if your flush hits you're going to split the pot so you're not getting 5:1 odds, you're getting 2.5:1 odds.
