I really want your comments on this one....
On the surface, this likes a fairly simple hand. But the villain said something to another player after the hand was folded that made me question my play.
What do you guys think? Party Poker 2/4 Hold'em (9 handed) converter Preflop: Hero is CO with T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. 2 folds, MP1 calls, MP2 calls, 1 fold, Hero raises, 3 folds, MP1 calls, MP2 calls. I think this is fine. This is a small pot. Maybe you were bluffed off on a heart draw, but thats life.

Re: I really want your comments on this one....
This fold is pretty standard, unless you have a read that says your opponent likes to get out of line and semibluff a card like this. I'm assuming you didn't have this read, since you didn't provide it. So, it's a good fold.

What was the comment?
If it was something along the lines of what a great bluff he pulled off, then that's great. He's just given out free info that you can use against him later.

RESULTS ... kind of
Thanks guys... given that I had no reads prior to this, I think my fold was the right play. I figured he either caught an ace, or had been slowplaying trips or two pair ... etc.
Anyway, after the hand, he mentioned to another player that he had "4 hearts plus and OESD." So really, in this instance, I folded the better hand. However, if I was in this situation 100 times more (against other random opponents)... in the long run, I think folding is the better play, as do you guys. Thanks, Adam |

Off topic. Question for Adam.
Good fold Adam.
I see your in London. Me too. Do you go down to Brantford or Pt. Edward? I've been playing the 20/40 game down there more lately cause it's just so darn lovable (in other words, profitable). |

Anyway, after the hand, he mentioned to another player that he had "4 hearts plus and OESD." So really, in this instance, I folded the better hand. [/ QUOTE ] Keep in mind, too, that you didn't have the best hand by much. At worst you gave up 2/3 of the pot, and if he had something goofy like J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] you only had 3/5 of the pot. I suppose its actually even worse than that because of implied odds. Personally I have trouble letting go of hands in this situation because I fear that someone is semi-bluffing me exactly like this guy did to you, but I think it's a leak in my game. |
