Default Flopped straight, fold the turn?

Pacific 5/10, first hand at the table.

I post in the CO and get 9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. Three limpers, I check, SB completes, BB checks.

6 to the flop for 6 SB.
Flop is T [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

Sb checks, BB bets, 2 folds, villian raises, Hero 3-bets SB and BB fold, villian caps, Hero calls.

Turn is the A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
Villian bets, Hero folds.

Like the flop 3-bet? Like the turn fold? Other comments?

I'm wondering if this is one of those hands where waiting until the turn to raise (assuming a dud hits) is best. I do think you flopped the best, although K9 is possible.

Turn fold is an automatic, I think, since like the worst possible card in the universe just hit.

I'm a bit torn on this. I could see him betting a set this way. Then again he didn't raise preflop. I'd be inclined to call this down. Is that too weak? There's a decent pot there, I'd hate to give it up to someone that might only have two pair or a set.

I thought about that, but then I thought, well even if hero is still ahead now, there are sooooooooo many river cards that could destroy him.

That thought did cross my mind too. Any club or any card 10 or up looks really bad. It's tough. The Hero obviously has no reads as this is the first hand at the table. What do we have, about $100 in the pot now? What are the odds that he's ahead, and what are the odds the river sinks him anyway? No river card can improve his hand (save for a king that might give a split). It'll probably cost $20 to call down. I still think it's close and I'd hate to fold, but it might be the better move. I'd probably still call though. Is that a contradiction?

If villian does have a set or two pair, a board pair is scary too.
