VPIP 10-20 party
I've been playing some 10-20 on party poker latelly, and ive noticed my poker tracker numbers are a little low. 16% vpip 9% pfr.
I was wondering what hands I may be losing ev by not playing that others are playing. I dont play alot of suited connectors or small pairs because its simply rare to get a number of limpers in any given hand in that game; its extremely tight generally. Mid to late position im open raising with kj offsuit and qjsutied and some smaller pairs the later in position I get. Any speculation appreciated. |

Re: VPIP 10-20 party
how many hands have you played? it may just be that you havent played enough hands to see your true stats come together.

30k, so a pretty good sized sample.

Re: VPIP 10-20 party
the solution is to move up to 15 30.

Re: VPIP 10-20 party
vpip of 16% is fine...Most poker theorists recommend you play 15% or so when the small blind is exactly half the big blind. I know several solid limit players with vpip's from 10-12%.

Re: VPIP 10-20 party
vpip of 12% is wayy below optimal. They are simply playing to tight, they wont make as much money.
Im beating the game by a good margin with these numbers, but I feel that i'm missing opportunites to get money in the pot |

Re: VPIP 10-20 party
I have the same problem. I am at around 15.5 and feel like I should be up another 2 percent or so, but I cant seem to find a spot to do so. Perhaps it is defending the blinds more against late position raises? Anyone have any ideas?

Re: VPIP 10-20 party
I think 15% is pretty decent in this game due to the 1/2 blind structure. You must play tighter out of the small blind than in say the party 15/30 with its 2/3 blinds.

Re: VPIP 10-20 party
you don't need many people in to play small pairs. they are good for more than set value in tight games like that
your numbers are fine though. what are you comparing them with that they seem low? |

Re: VPIP 10-20 party
Enon and i have discussed this topic at great length.
i think we have come to the conclusion that you need to play about 18-24% of your hands to have an optimal EV...but this variance is a result of the types of games...in loose passive games you play hands in late position, upt o 40%, and can limp early with pairs down to 22 if the game is right...but in other tighter games, you play fewer hands and there are more raises in aggressive games which limit your hand playing abilities b/c implied odds are simply not there.. solution: find better games EDIT: this discussion involved 2/3 blind structure as one of us was playing wayyy too tight. in the 1/2, those numbers should be a touch lower, maybe 14%-20% or something like that -Barron |
