That has to be a misprint, I'm thinking they meant pockets...though I'd love the chance to be in a 10 person free-roll.

Nope, you need quads.
And I believe there is a 3 day window or so.

Only need to use 1 hole card though!

Seriously, how many do you think will get into this?

I might throw around a few hands to try and get lucky.

Even if 100 get in, this is a $200 value.

I've never played there. How many players are there? Off the top of my head, If it's the size of say Absolute, I would say... (using price is right rules) 93 people.

What is the Snowmen '8888' Freeroll?
The Snowmen '8888' Freeroll is a special $20,000 Freeroll that will run on December 26th at 6 PM ET. It will be played as a No-Limit Texas Holdem tournament. It will pay out to 100 players with a first prize of $4,000!

------------------------------------------------------------
How do I sign up for the Snowmen '8888' Freeroll if I qualify?
If you’ve qualified for the Snowman '8888' Freeroll, a ticket will be shown under My Account. Use this ticket to sign up for the Snowman '8888' Freeroll and you’re set to go! Remember that you have to sign up yourself, and register early in case the tournament should fill up. The ticket is non-refundable and non-transferable.

------------------------------------------------------------
What do I need to do to play the Snowmen '8888' Freeroll?
You need to get four Snowmen (that is four-of-a-kind eights - 8 of Clubs, 8 of Diamonds, 8 of Spades and 8 of Hearts) in any Texas Holdem real money ring game hand between midnight ET December 23rd and 11:59 PM ET December 25th. At least one of your hole cards has to be an eight and at least one out of the previous five hands must have been raked. The hand does not have to go to showdown.

This is interesting. How many quad 8's will be dealt in a 48 hour time period? Obviously, this depends on how many players they can attract to the site. I did PR's Thanksgiving reload bonus and there were nights that I could 4 table 2/4 then there were nights where they only had 1 full 2/4 table and 1 full 3/6 table going (I think there were like 3 or 4 full 1/2 tables). Not sure how many people will go back to PR if this is the only thing PR is offering. Most people expect the other sites to come out with holiday reload bonuses. If Party, Empire, NOW, etc. put out decent reloads, PR may not attract that many players (IMO). Also, it seems that the $20M isn't guaranteed. It already states that 1st place gets $4M. So, if only 50 people hit quad 8's over the 48 hours, it appears the total payout could be less than $20M. Having said this, I would hope that someone at PR has at least 2 brain cells and looked at their stats to back-check the plan to pay out to the top 100 in the freeroll! We'll have to see if the other sites put out solid reloads.

BTW, I've also seen a couple posts talking about PR changing its colors from the purple to brown (but then back to purple as there was a glich in the brown?).

It will be worth a try. Any eight will stay in longer than normal. Could be vaulable.

But, in 12,000 tracked hands this year, I have been dealt 88 133 times. 3 have quad'd up.

I did not look at all 8's, only POcket 88's.

alot.

if it were party, they could probably not offer this because there are so many.

anyway, it should be easy to put the math to this and i would love to see the answer.

how many hands per day do they deal, and what is the expectation for *any* quad 8's?

Poker room has more players than Absolute. When I played there, there were usually 6-10 $1/$2 full ring tables going.

I've been playing at Pokerroom recently and just over the past two days, ~ 1300 hands, I've seen quads nine times (twice they were mine). Sure seems like a lot more than I'm used to seeing. None were quad eights though, so maybe they keep those out of the mix
