Although I rarely play at Pacific any more, I thought the following email I received from them to be quite interesting.
If there's one thing I love it's a heartfelt attempt to retain good customers </sarcasm> Background: For those of you who don't play Pacific, they have a frequent player bonus point system like UB or Stars, but the points can be converted to directly to cash. [ QUOTE ] Dear xxxxx, This is John M. from the Operations Department at Cassava (Gibraltar) Ltd. Cassava (Gibraltar) Ltd operates "Pacific Poker". I am contacting you in regards to your Pacific Poker account. Our bonus point's scheme in Pacific Poker is a great benefit that we are happy to present to our members. This scheme is not targeted towards expert poker players but rather to help the average player overcome losing streaks. Please notice that our Bonus Policy states that we reserve the right at our sole discretion, to deny any bonus or promotion, or rescind any policy in respect of that user, either temporarily or permanently. Since you are a very successful poker player (as can be seen from your total winnings), we have decided to stop bonus points from being added to your account. The current bonus points that you have in your account, can be converted to money and placed into your bankroll until the 20th of December 2004. From this date onwards, although your points will keep accumulating, you will not be able to convert them. Please note that this by no means will hurt any of your other privileges as a successful player on our site - we congratulate you on all your winnings and we hope to see you continue to prosper in our poker community. Regards, John M. Operations Department Cassava (Gibraltar) Ltd. operations@cassava.net Cassava gaming properties: Casino-on-Net, Pacific Poker, Reef Club Casino [/ QUOTE ] I'm obviously not terribly concerned about losing this "privilage", it was a marginal promotion anyway only worth about $1/hr at 15/30, much less at lower limits. But I'm still surprized they have resorted removing good customers from a bonus program. It looks like PacificPoker is taking a hard line AGAINST winning players |

This doesn't make any sense. Winning players are a major source of income for them-- why would they do they do this?

What morons, seems these players are the ones they would want to reward since they keep the games going.

I don't really have a whole ton to add to the topic, I was just thrilled that you brought back the word NOT after silence. I remember when people said that about ever 4 words. It wasn't even sarcasim anymore.
Anyhow internet sites know what they are doing! NOT!!! |

lol this is great...Let them shoo away all their regulars who pay thousands in rake each month...
I would seriously submit this to Jek + Granny and hope they can make them suffer in some weird sadistic way. |

They base poker bonus points on amount wagered, not the
rake. It's their fault they used flawed thinking, and they should fix the system rather than punish a successful player. |

Wow, that is just idiotic. But maybe it will make Pacific even fishier if they keep weeding out the winning players.
Maybe I should go back and play!! SamJack |
